Workers in this unit group operate automatic or semi-automatic metalworking machines which have been set up by machine setters to execute repetitive work. Their functions include: operating and tending a variety of machine tools; operating machine tools such as a lathe, milling, planing, boring, drilling, grinding, homing or metal-sawing machine; operating a special type of machine tool such as automatic transfer machine or programmed metalworking machine.
