Workers in this unit group conduct research into physical phenomena in such fields as mechanics, heat, light, sound, electricity and magnetism, electronics and nuclear physics. Their functions include: conducting pure research to increase scientific knowledge in the field of physics; conducting applied research to develop or improve industrial, medical, military and other practical applications of the laws and theories of physics.
