Kandelaar van het Burgerweeshuis
The Civic Orphanage
The governors, regents and regentesses, of the Civic Orphanage, held regular meetings which would include having a meal together. In 1759 the board of the Civic Orphanage placed a large order for expensive table silver with various Amsterdam silversmiths. In the same year the engraver Jan Delhoff provided all these items with the emblem of the Orphanage, a dove within an aureole.
