Intocht der Pruisische Troepen in Amsterdam op 10 oktober 1787

In the autumn of 1787 Frederik Willem II, king of Prussia and brother-in-law of Willem V of Orange, sent troops to the Dutch Republic to support the stadholder against the Patriots. The only resistance offered for any length of time was from around Amsterdam, but the Prussian army was a highly trained war machine and the Patriots did not last long. On 10 October 1787 the Prussian entered Amsterdam via Leiden Gate.
