Buikband tevens kousenhouder (reform)
In the 1880s the wasp waist determined the face of fashion. The silhouette desired was achieved by wearing a corset. The Association for the Improvement of Women’s Clothing (Dutch abbreviation VvVvV), founded in 1899, rejected this disfiguring of the female body. A few doctors also argued for reform clothing: loose outer garments made of materials that breathe and tricot underwear that doesn’t pinch.
