Roemer
Abraham Willet’s glass collection was already famous in his own day. An article appeared about this large römer, decorated in 1652 by an engraver identified only by the initials CM, in the periodical Oud-Holland in 1883. Around the cup, the artist depicted a landscape featuring scenes from the Flight to Egypt and the Nativity, both based on existing prints. CM used a diamond point to make the engraving, creating the scenes in the glass with delicate scratches of the hard tip.
