Jeroen van Tuyl set up his JEROEN VanTUYL menswear label in 2000. Van Tuyl graduated at ArtEZ fashion college in Arnhem in 1998. Before establishing his own company, Van Tuyl worked for various other firms, including Alexander van Slobbe’s SO. Van Tuyl’s designs are known for their mix of familiar and modern materials, their slim-line shape and the quality of workmanship. His collections portray a male silhouette that he describes as an urban warrior, while the details and manufacture reflect a more sensitive aspect. Van Tuyl is presently working on a new line and a new style. Van Tuyl sees his man wearing a suit to this meeting. He is a creative man, an architect perhaps, or maybe he devises formats for TV programmes. His man understands the value of clothes: he appreciates details and quality fabrics. Van Tuyl’s ‘man at meeting’ thinks about how he should dress and in that sense he shows far more initiative than many other men.
