Twee verpleegsters en een arts (of patiënt?)
Thérèse Ansingh, who worked under the artist pseudonym Sorella, belonged to the ‘Amsterdam Joffers’. Their work wasn’t innovative but it was very popular with art lovers. This frail-looking portrait by Thérèse Ansingh is still largely a mystery. We do not know who is depicted. The nurses are possibly from two hospitals, the Binnengasthuis and the Wilhelminagasthuis, both of which no longer exist. Given her white coat, the woman in the middle is possibly a doctor.
