De beeldenzaal van de Maatschappij Felix Meritis

Between 1806 and 1808 De Lelie painted his last group portrait for Felix Meritis, intended as a pendant to The Drawing Room. Casts of famous classical statues such as the Apollo Belvedere (center left) and the Laocoön (center right) are displayed in the sculpture gallery. The persons depicted are prominent members of Felix Meritis. The painter himself is in the middle, sitting with his back to the viewer. The Apollo Belvedere has exactly the same pose as the nude model in De Lelie's Inauguration of The Drawing Room from 1792.
