Spakenburg mutsje
Orange Ootjes they call themselves. The men in the orange-painted women’s costumes from Bunschoten-Spakenburg visit Dutch international games together. An Ootje is a grandmother in Spakenburg dialect. Many villagers thought it was in bad taste at first, as they were proud of their traditional costume. While others parade in fake Volendam caps and imaginary Dutch outfits, Orange Ootjes wear authentic costumes (apart from the colour).
