Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technicians

Workers in this unit group perform technical tasks, normally under the direction and supervision of electrical or electronics engineers, contributory to the design, development, construction, installation, maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic systems and equipment. Their functions include: assisting in research and development work concerning electrical and electronic systems and equipment; preparing detailed estimates of quantities and costs of materials and labour required for manufacture and installation; assisting with technical supervision of manufacture, installation and utilisation, maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic systems and equipment; applying knowledge of electrical and electronics engineering theory and practices to recognise and solve problems arising in course of their work. Electrical fitters, electronics fitters, radio and television repairmen and related workers are classified in minor group 8-5.
