Workers in this unit group carry out research on mining engineering problems, supervise prospecting for minerals such as coal, iron, copper, gold, platinum, silver, petroleum, gas, stone, clay, salt or gems, and plan, organise, supervise and advise on extraction of minerals from the earth and their preparation for distribution or processing. Workers who specialise in geological and geophysical surveys to locate mineral deposits are classified in unit group 0-13.
